Benefits Specialist

The Benefits Specialist will have responsibility for administrative and functional support of Amazing Care's benefits and Leave of Absence policies across all entities.

The person in this role will serve as subject matter expert and resource for the organization and management for all matters related to leave of absence and all applicable regulations.

The ideal candidate will be highly motivated and independent with strong organizational, project management, and engaging customer service skills, as well as a solid knowledge of health and leave benefit plans.

POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES

  • Responsible for the administration of all group benefit plans including, but not limited to medical, dental, vision, life and AD&D insurance, short and long-term disability, flexible spending accounts
  • Serves as the point of contact for employees regarding benefits questions, providing responses and solutions in a timely manner; Employee support in resolving claims, enrollment issues, etc.
  • Responsible for qualifying event changes as related to the benefits process, including applicable correspondence and process entry to provide vendors with accurate eligibility information.
  • Develop, improve and maintain benefit plan process documentation, toolkits, and reference materials.
  • Distributes all benefits enrollment materials and determines eligibility.
  • Enrolls employees with carriers and process life status changes.
  • Collaborate with Benefits broker and vendors, as applicable, on member claims.
  • Benefit plan billing reconciliation and vendor payments, as needed
  • Manage all aspects of the leave of absence cycle.
  • Serves as the point of contact for employees who require a leave of absence
  • Assist employees with the leave process by providing forms, written and verbal communications, information on coordination of pay with STD/LTD and/or Workers' Comp benefits, and information on the Continuation of Benefits policy.
  • Effectively interprets FMLA and ADA implications as they relate to leaves of absences/disabilities.
  • Responds to 401(k) inquiries from managers and employees relating to enrollments, plan changes and contribution amounts.
  • Complete other duties as assigned.

MINIMUM SKILLS OR EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS

  • Associates Degree or equivalent training and experience
  • Minimum 2 years in benefit administration or in a Human Resources generalist role.
  • Familiarity with group benefit plans and processes, including medical, dental, vision, life, disability, flexible spending account, EAP, protected leaves, COBRA, HIPAA, etc.
  • Effective written and verbal English communication skills
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office applications
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
  • Strong analytical, reasoning, and problem-solving skills
  • Knowledge of or ability to learn HRIS system (iSolved experience preferred)
  • Ability to follow directions and procedures
  • Excellent attendance and punctuality

Qualifications/Experience

  • Bachelor's degree and at least two years of administrative/HR experience. Disability management and/or FMLA administration experience preferred.
  • Understanding and application of federal and state disability and paid family leave laws (i.e., ADA, FMLA, PDL, etc.) and policies a plus.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills. Able to effectively communicate with employees at all levels from senior management to business services employees.
  • Strong Word and Excel skills, iSolved experience a plus.
  • Organized, detail oriented and able to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment
  • Ability to work independently, think analytically and creatively.
  • Must be able to maintain confidentiality of protected and sensitive data and ensure compliance with HIPAA
