This position is responsible for accurately and timely processing the US payroll and serves as an in-house expert on Montrose US benefits programs and administers regular benefits-related tasks. The Analyst is a problem-solver, system thinker and provides excellent customer service to internal customers and payroll and benefits vendors. Assists with completing pre-acquisition and post-acquisition tasks related to payroll and benefits.
Benefits Administration
- Administer all employee benefit programs including enrollments and terminations.
- Coordinates and conducts the new employee boarding process to ensure new employees gain an understanding of benefit plans and enrollment provisions.
- Fulfills all governmental regulatory mandates and ensures filings are performed as required.
- Plans and administers annual open enrollment period.
- Plans, conducts and reports results of audits to ensure all enrollments are accurate and that dependent information is correct for each employee and works closely with Finance team members for quarterly and year end audits (payroll, Workers Comp, 401k, etc.)
- Administers vendor billing including reconciliation, validation, and payment processing. Resolves discrepancies with carriers and payroll.
- Assist with researching and analyzing plan designs and offerings based on employee interest and market competitiveness.
- Responsible for monitoring all tasks necessary to accomplish Montrose's payroll processing objectives, including relationships with external auditors and state and federal agencies.
- Analyzes, prepares and inputs payroll data to produce accurate and timely payroll, and ensures compliance with all applicable state and federal wage and hour laws.
- Prepares weekly, monthly, quarterly and year-end reports (gross payroll, hours worked, vacation accrual, tax deductions, benefit deductions, etc.) for management.
- Maintains current knowledge of applicable state and federal wage and hour laws, SOX compliance, etc.
- Facilitates management and employee understanding of payroll procedures and assists with resolving payroll discrepancies.

- Proven work experience as a payroll and benefits administrator or similar role
- 3+ years in payroll processing and benefits management
- Knowledge of government regulations as they apply to payroll, benefits, and company policies.
- Experience using Workday and ADP (preferred not required)
- Extensive knowledge of Excel and other Microsoft Office applications
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to interface with cross-functional teams and all levels of personnel/management
- Strong problem solving and analytical skills
- Excellent organization and time/project management skills
- Ability to act in a professional manner, including exercising discretion, judgment and extreme confidentiality due to access to employee data
- Able to work independently and manage multiple responsibilities (i.e. self-starter, self-motivated)
