We have an exciting opportunity for a highly motivated professional to fill the position of Computer Based Training Instructor - Semi-Automated Force (SAF) Operator.

WHAT YOU WILL DO:

As the Computer Based Training Instructor - Semi-Automated Force (SAF) Operator, responsibilities will include but may not be limited to:

  • Operates Semi-Automated Forces (SAF) system and related exercise control systems IAW current and applicable military doctrine, and as directed by the Battle Master Controller to conduct simulation training both on and off site.
  • Generates and controls semi-automated exercise tactical entities to meet military instructors, observer controllers, and unit commanders training intent. Programs BMC control radios frequencies, weapons configurations, navigation waypoints, target coordinates, and weather environmental parameters.  Loads and verifies correct missions Initial Conditions (IC) defaults prior to initialization of flight modes.
  • Advises and provides guidance to exercise participants manning the role player stations.
  • Develops and manages electronic files containing overlays, scenarios, and user provided portable AMPS flight planning software files used during current and future training iterations.
  • Catalogs, maintains, and transfers mission files between external training devices and AVCATT.
  • Remains informed of US Army tactics and technical deployment procedures.
  • Understands and applies realistic semi-automated forces not limited to; infantry fighting vehicles, armor, infantry troops, artillery, rotary and fixed wing, combat service support elements, air defense systems during day and night military training exercises.
  • Verifies navigational points using both Military Grid Reference (MGR) System and Long/Lat coordinates.
  • Must be able to communicate using FM, UHF, VHF and HF tactical radios in plain and secure modes.
  • Supports aviation training exercises in preparation for actual real-life deployments.
  • Must be able to communicate with US Army flight crews and act as a crew chief if necessary to compliment air assault, sling loads and medevac operations.
  • Monitors flight modules and generates calls for maintenance to the AVCATT Technician.
  • Operates Unmanned Aerial Systems (UAS) with mission parameters established for each training iteration.
  • Operates playback of tactical map display, sensor video, META-VR stealth, and automated recordings at the discretion of the instructors and evaluators.
  • Must be able to perform orderly initialization and shutdown of the AVCATT ONESAF Host computer and IC suites.
  • Conducts simulator test flights in support of maintenance checks and engineering support efforts.
  • Work as technical crew to assist in the teardown, set-up and testing in association with training moves.
  • Helps aviators fit Helmet Mounted Display (HMD) for mission training.
  • Monitor posted Range Control Number Identifier (RCNI) assigned training within the Facility Management Support System (RFMSS) control system.
  • Gathers, reviews, and analyzes after-action review and course evaluations to determine effectiveness of training sessions.
  • Assists AVCATT technician reconfigure man-modules to different aircraft configuration is support of training missions.

ABOUT YOU:

 

  • Five to eight years of military aviation experience in Army aviation.
  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent combination of educational skills.
  • Interpersonal skills for interacting with all levels of civilian and military personnel.
  • Comprehension skills and ability to impart tactical and technical knowledge and expertise in a training environment.
  • Organizational and time management skills, and ability to apply personal computer skills to business solutions.
  • Must be able to lift 50-75 pounds.
  • Ability to work independently or as part of a team.
  • Must be available to travel with AVCATT suite during relocation to training sites away from home station and be willing to travel up to 25% of the time.
  • Must be able to communicate with US Army aircrews and act as a crew member to compliment crews during air assault, convoy operations, sling load, medevac, and aerial gunnery operations.
  • Must be a US citizen and have or be able to obtain and hold a SECRET clearance.

PREFERRED SKILLS/QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Prefer former Company Grade Officer or Warrant Officer
  • Experienced rated US Army Aviator qualified in advanced aircraft: AH-64D, UH60M or CH-47F.
  • Experience as an Instructor Pilot (IP), Master Gunner (MG), Aviation Mission Survivability Officer (AMSO), Aviation Mission planning System (AMPS), Unit Trainer (UT), or operations planning cell is considered beneficial.
  • 5 years of equivalent civilian experience in rotary winged aircraft or simulation training.
