Carolina Physical Therapy and Sports Medicne, Inc. seek an experienced Benefits and Authorization Specialist to join our unique and exciting outpatient healthcare company. Job Duties:
Administers the company's employee group medical, dental, vision, FSA, basic life, supplemental life, disability insurance programs, 401K, Leave of Absence, and FMLA Plans. Processes enrollments and changes for multiple benefit groups.- Manages the data entry/ integrity of all new hires, qualifying life events, and 401k benefit updates.
- Processes employee plan enrollments (adds, drops, and changes) and helps employees resolve claim issues.
- Ensures correct paperwork is received and any changes apply to the life event/ new application.
- Maintains enrollment/ eligibility information for employees, dependents, and beneficiaries via various online and internal applications; Works with brokers and vendors to provide COBRA administration services for terminating employees.
- Assists Benefits Specialist and Management with ACA administration, compliance, and open enrollment processes.
- Acts as the subject matter expert on FMLA/ Leave of Absence administration/Workers' Compensation & compliance. Complies with all FMLA, ADA, and additional federal/state regulations.
- Manages leaves to ensure proper documentation is received; Determines employee's work status and coordinates return-to-work requests. Maintains constant contact with Partners, Managers, Disability Providers, Payroll, and other appropriate staff.
- Monitors benefit premium payments for employees on leave and coordinates communications with payroll, employees, vendors, and supervisors.
- Files claims with insurance providers where applicable.
- Provides counseling and notifications to management, supervisors, and employees regarding the law and requirements to minimize exposure. Maintains strict adherence to timelines.
- Partners with plan vendors and third-party administrators (TPA) to identify, research, and resolve administrative issues and employee grievances. Research employee and dependent "escalated” questions/claims regarding benefit plans. Escalates complex issues to Benefits Manager.
- Maintains a working knowledge of employee benefit regulations, including ERISA, PPACA, HIPAA, and COBRA.
- Audits and reconciles monthly benefits invoices from carriers, creates reports, and assists in resolving any problems or discrepancies.
- Processes and submits check requests for approval and payment. Ensures checks are received, documented, and mailed to providers on or before the deadline.
- Follows company Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs). Evaluates and make recommendations for process improvement.
- Prepares reports and provides data analytics for management. Exercises sound judgment and discretion in dealing with confidential and sensitive information.
- Assists payroll in troubleshooting benefit plans.
- Other job-related projects/duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
Capability of effective planning and priority setting. Must have the ability to manage several complex projects simultaneously while working under pressure to meet deadlines- Advanced Excel skills a must; MS Word, Outlook, and Adobe/Nitro skills
- Experience with UKG (formerly UltiPro), TrackIt, LeaveLink, and Cognos Business Intelligence preferred
- 3+ years' experience in employee benefits
- Associate degree, PHR or higher preferred
- Knowledge of all pertinent federal and state regulations, including ERISA, FLSA, COBRA, FMLA, ADA, SECTION 125, PPACA, and COBRA
