Athletic Trainer and Athletics Department Associate
Tower Hill School is seeking qualified candidates to fill the position of Athletic Trainer and Athletics Department Associate for the remainder of the 2023-2024 academic year. The start date is flexible, but before March 2024 is preferred. This is an 11 month, full-time, benefited position and reports to the Director of Physical Health and Director of Athletics.
Primary Responsibilities:
Prevention, recognition, and treatment of athletic injuries before, during, and after practices/competitions
Oversee and maintain weight room policies/coverage for student athletes
Administer IMPACT testing and monitor of Return to Play protocols (concussion)
Construct and monitor rehab/treatment programs using modalities appropriate for injury
Coordinate communication between parents, administration, and coaches for all student athlete injury purposes
Collaborate with doctors to provide emergency and follow-up care
Participate and present during coaches meetings in coordination with the athletic administration
Maintain accurate records for all injuries and treatments using Magnus Health software
Review and approve submissions of DIAA required forms prior to the start of each sports season in conjunction with Director of Physical Health
Update and maintain group lists within Magnus for sports teams by season to aid in communication between school and home
Manage all necessary supplies/equipment related to the athletic training room
Maintain an orderly and clean environment in the athletic training room that is consistent with established protocols and expectations of the school
Compile and keep policies/protocols up-to-date related to emergency action plan
Attend all mandatory meetings as requested by the school administrators and attend optional meetings as needed for the purposes of athletics
Commit to being an active member of the Wellness Team by attending meetings, leading projects, and serving as a representative for the athletic department
Assist with athletic department operational tasks as assigned by the Director of Athletics including but not limited to: uniform management, facility set-up, and data entry pertaining to eligibility, transportation, scheduling, and officials
Assist with additional coverages in the school community as assigned by the Director of Physical Health including but not limited to: Health Office coverage, summer camp health oversight, and school wide events requiring presence of medical personnel
Annual submission to the Weathervane newsletter with as needed announcements to promote athletics in the community
Qualifications/Qualities:
Licensed by State of DE
BOC certified
CPR/AED first aid certifications for professional rescuer
Maintain CPR instructor certification
Maintain # of CEU’s per period by attending continuing education seminars
Maintain competency with IMPACT testing
Knowledge and proficiency working with Electronic Medical Records (EMR)
Knowledge and proficiency working in Microsoft Office and/or Google Suite
Must be able to work under pressure and meet deadlines, while maintaining a positive attitude and maintaining professionalism at all times
Ability to work independently and to carry out assignments to completion within parameters of instructions given, prescribed routines, and standard accepted practices
Flexibility to accommodate schedules that include evenings, weekends, and some days when school is not in session
Bachelor's degree required from an NATA Accredited University
Masters degree preferred
Ability to safely and successfully perform the essential job functions consistent with the ADA, FMLA and other federal, state and local standards, including meeting qualitative and/or quantitative productivity standards
Ability to maintain regular, punctual attendance consistent with the ADA, FMLA and other federal, state and local standards
Must be able to lift and carry up to 50 lbs
Must be able to meet the physical demands and working conditions including lifting, bending, walking, kneeling, stretching, and stooping
