The Associate Director of Quality Management & Patient Safety will lead, develop, implement, and facilitate health system and hospital clinical activities and collaboratives to achieve the triple aim and prevent adverse events across the continuum of care. This position will provide UTMB Health with technical and implementation leadership support, including consults, training/education, and assistance with prioritizing quality/safety strategies and actions. This position includes performing on-site visits and consultations at all campuses and ambulatory sites as needed.
Facilitates the integration of the strategic vision into clinical practice through collaboration with the local leaders and the support of the Director of Quality Management & Patient Safety. The Associate Director is knowledgeable about the components of a patient safety culture and patient safety science and utilizes this knowledge to advance quality and patient safety at the front lines where care delivery is provided.
An integral component in supporting the strategic vision for patient safety is proactively addressing patient safety issues utilizing data, information from Patient Safety Committees, Executive Rounding, and other reports to analyze problems and determine their root causes. Working collaboratively with the Patient Safety Director participates in developing strategies to prevent patient harm from recurring. Through collaboration and partnerships with staff, the Associate Director supports implementing programs and services that produce measurable improvements in processes and practices that affect patient safety. Ultimately, this should result in less patient harm with an accompanying decrease in costs and severity levels of adverse events. Works independently and under the direct supervision of the Quality Management & Patient Safety Director.
Scope: The Associate Director of Quality Management & Patient Safety supports all campuses and the health system activities to include federal, state, and local regulatory compliance across the UTMB network of hospitals and ambulatory services.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in nursing
- Candidates must have comprehensive knowledge of healthcare operations with five (5) years of progressive responsibility, including clinical and quality management experience/process improvement/accreditation or comparable experience.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Master's degree in a clinical field, health management, or health-related field
- Specialty certification in quality, safety, or accreditation
- Project management and Lean experience are a plus
- Experience in clinical care settings across the continuum is preferred, allowing in-depth analysis of the care processes surrounding patients and families.
LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS, OR CERTIFICATIONS
Required:
- Must possess and maintain a current RN license or valid temporary permit to practice in Texas
Preferred:
- Specialty certification in quality (CPHQ), safety or accreditation
