Position: Associate Director of Education and Curriculum

Department: ECE

Reports to: Director of Early Childhood Education

Hours: Full-Time,9:00 am -5: 00 pm exempt position

Salary: $90,000 - $100,000

Responsibilities:

  • Lead the program's curriculum development, implementation, and oversight to ensure compliance with Head Start Program Performance Standards, DOE Policy Handbook, DOHMH permit requirements, and other City, State, and Federal regulations.
  • Ensure the curriculum meets the cognitive, social-emotional, physical, language, and adaptive developmental needs of all children in the program.
  • Ensure the curriculum is rich in language, science, math, art, music, and exploration and it reflects the culture of the families and children served.
  • Ensure adherence to DOHMH staff ratios, qualification, supervision, and oversight of classrooms in collaboration with Educational Directors and support staff.
  • Coach, supervise, and mentor Educational Directors and teaching staff on instructional practice, including intervention and differentiation, and lesson planning.
  • Oversee the implementation of developmental and social-emotional screenings, individualized planning, and school readiness progress and outcomes in the implementation of high-quality curricula and support services for all children.
  • Ensure that families are engaged in planning for the program's curriculum and offer school-home resources to enhance family engagement and participation in the program.
  • Support the implementation of the program's policy committee and other family and community engagement activities in collaboration with the Director of Social Services.
  • Supervise and oversee the provision of services for children with disabilities in collaboration with the Disabilities Director.
  • Supervise the Educational Directors, Disability Directors, classroom teams, and other support staff in collaboration with the leadership team.
  • Develop, implement, and facilitate professional learning sessions for teaching and support staff.
  • Collaborate with the leadership team in meeting program goals and requirements.
  • Maintain proper documentation of services, data, and reports as needed to ensure compliance with contract requirements.
  • Other duties as assigned by supervisor.


Qualifications:
  • Master's Degree in Early Childhood Education.
  • New York State Teacher Certification in B-2.
  • At a minimum, five years of classroom experience.
  • Be a highly collaborative, results-oriented, adaptable, problem-solving self-starter.
  • Embrace using data to inform instructional planning and practice.
  • Have excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Be positive, thoughtful, passionate, articulate, motivating, and empowering with team members.
  • Be computer savvy, proficient in email, spreadsheets, Outlook, etc.
  • Five years experience in management preferred.
  • Strong leadership and training skills.
  • Demonstrated knowledge and experience in Creative Curriculum.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of Head Start performance standards.
  • Excellent organizational ability and interpersonal skills.
  • Overall flexibility and ability to work under pressure and meet many deadlines.
  • Bilingual (English/Spanish) preferred, but not required.
  • Demonstrated knowledge and experience in Creative Curriculum.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of Head Start performance standards.
  • Excellent organizational ability and interpersonal skills.
  • Overall flexibility and ability to work under pressure and meet many deadlines.
  • Excellent computer skills.
  • Bilingual (English/Spanish) preferred, but not required.
