Job Description
This leadership role is responsible for delivering technical solutions identified in the IT strategic roadmap and aligned with organizational growth. Your area of focus will be on the delivery of applications, systems, and technology to support our commercial launch. You will play a key role in cultivating open communication and trust between stakeholders in IT, Sales, Medical Affairs and Marketing.
You will lead technical projects and be responsible for post-launch initiatives to ensure long-term adoption and growth. Working directly with business stakeholders you will proactively work to understand business needs and translate them into technical requirements for the successful implementation and support of business systems.
In addition, this role will schedule/track project deliverables, facilitate project team meetings, author technical documents, coordinate cross-functional projects, and when necessary, assist with project execution. You will act as a technical resource tied to the long-term success of commercial systems. Success is not an option, you must be willing to facilitate end user training, manage internal/external resources and when needed, roll up your sleeves and help system users with technical questions.
Essential Duties
- Through extensive technical knowledge and proven delivery of business systems, lead the selection, deployment, and long-term adoption of our commercial system portfolio.
- Build relationships and maintain strategic partnerships with key stakeholders, including Commercial Operations, Sales, and MSL team members.
- With assistance from internal resources and third-party vendors drive alignment with our long-term (2-3 years) strategic priorities, and seek feedback to support enhancements, operational changes, and future initiatives.
- Manage initiatives to ensure alignment with corporate strategy, budget, resource requirements and overall fit into the greater technical ecosystem.
- Engage with project and program leads within your business areas to ensure they understand objectives and joint strategic efforts.
- Act as a business advocate throughout the implementation lifecycle of Commercial/IT projects to deliver the best business outcomes.
- Liaise with IT support partners to operationalize business systems, including the creation of run books, system maintenance plans, routine health checks, and training guides to ensure the delivery of exceptional end user support.
- Lead initiatives to ensure system stability, performance, integrity issues and/or opportunities for process improvement are managed. This role is responsible for the overall system lifecycle – you own all planning, delivery, budget, and support.
- Work closely with IT Operations counterparts to deliver, secure, monitor, and provide ongoing end user support for system.
- Follow technology trends in biotech/life science industry. Closely monitor product roadmaps and vendor landscape for solutions in the CRM, BI, MDM and pharma data management area.
- Create opportunities to engage system users, seek feedback, and lead initiatives to provide regular and on-going training for users.
- Drive efforts to ensure business systems are compliant with applicable corporate policies and regulatory requirements.
Education /Experience
- Minimum education, Bachelor’s degree in Business, Engineering, or Information Technology.
- Prior experience in biotech, healthcare or life science industry is required.
- Experience in the management and delivery of validated Software/Systems for Life Sciences Industry.
Qualifications
- 6+ years of hands-on experience managing complex computer systems in an emerging Life Science organization.
- Previous experience leading efforts to maintain systems and services in a validated state. This role requires the ability to perform validation tasks in conjunction with members of Quality and outside validation vendors.
- Extensive knowledge supporting Veeva CRM, Veeva Vault, MDM, and Data Warehouse solutions in a Life Sciences organization.
- Familiar with the greater IT enterprise system landscape, with focus on security and integration knowledge.
- Ability to juggle multiple projects and prioritize tasks against competing business requests.
- Desire to produce the most value for the company with limited resources.
- Experience instituting best practices in all aspects of software development lifecycle (SDLC) and formal change management methodologies.
- Experience with Smartsheet, SQL, Power BI, JavaScript and/or Python, and Microsoft Excel
- Relevant experience acting as a “formal” technical project manager responsible for the delivery of cross-functional system/service that required extensive communication, analytical and organizational skills.
- Experienced with the creation of standard operating procedures (SOP), work instruction and training documents.
- Previous experience in translating business requirements into test plans, and executing User Acceptance Testing (UAT) for the delivery of software/systems.
The anticipated salary range for candidates who will work in Newark, California is $175,000 - $195,000. The final salary offered to a successful candidate will be dependent on several factors that may include but are not limited to the type and length of experience within the job, type and length of experience within the industry, education, etc. CymaBay is a multi-state employer, and this salary range may not reflect positions that work in other states.
