The Associate Director manages the ongoing client relationship at the IUOE Coalition level. The Associate Director acts as the client centric, client facing resource and represents the IUOE internally as advocate and coordinates with other functional areas within the company to implement client benefits, complete projects and address service needs. May work closely with sales on prospective funds and RFP and Audit responsibilities. The Associate Director acts as a leader of the IUOE Dedicated Account team consisting of 4 Strategic Account Executives and 4 Pharmacy Account Managers and is responsible for promoting the up - selling of appropriate services to funds, renewal of existing contracts and retention of membership and client satisfaction.


Positions in this function must be self - directed and able to work in a less structured environment. Candidate will be able to hold themselves accountable. Can be a resource, coach, and teacher to others. Must be able to assess and interpret customer needs and requirements and identify solutions and company capabilities. Can translate concepts into practice. Able to work on complex problems and issues and provide innovative and effective solutions that support both the client and the company's goals and objectives.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Dedicating client management of an overall book of business as part of the IUOE
  • Secure renewal and upselling programs via presentations and educations at the Coalition level and IUOE meeting venues
  • Manage ongoing contract relationships and service delivery to the IUOE Coalition
  • Act as outward - facing, dedicated resource for liaison of the IUOE Coalition typically with direct client contact (not call center) 
  • Build relationships with the appropriate IUOE client contact, consultant, and administrator
  • Represent client internally and coordinates with other functions to implement client systems, complete projects, and address ongoing service needs

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience
  • 5 years of direct client relationship management or Account Management experience
  • 3 years of experience in the PBM industry
  • 1 year of Labor / Trust experience
  • Direct experience in working with intermediaries such as consultants and administrators
  • Proven ability to pull together metrics, reporting and a dashboard to advise the client on clinical drivers and trends
  • Ability to Travel up to 50% to visit client base
  • Ability to accomodate Central and Eastern Time Zone Business Hours


Preferred Qualifications:

  • OptumRx systems and software knowledge (RxTrack, RxClaim, Mail systems)
  • Proven oral and written presentation skills
  • Proven ability to prioritize and meet deadlines in a fast - paced environment

California, Colorado, Connecticut, Nevada, New York City, or Washington Residents Only: The salary range for California, Colorado, Connecticut, Nevada, New York City, or Washington residents is $101,200 to $184,000. Pay is based on several factors including but not limited to education, work experience, certifications, etc. In addition to your salary, UnitedHealth Group offers benefits such as, a comprehensive benefits package, incentive and recognition programs, equity stock purchase and 401k contribution (all benefits are subject to eligibility requirements).
