Davidson College is hiring an Assistant Director of Academic Operations to oversee administrative support and operations in the Academic Affairs division. Reporting to the Director of Academic Finance & Administration, the Assistant Director will oversee administrative support for academic departments and programs, manage academic facilities and serve as primary contact for issues related to administrative operations in the division.
Responsibilities
- Provide leadership for staff in Academic Affairs, including recruiting/hiring, training, and performance management. Coordinate administrative support for academic departments and programs, including direct supervision of administrative staff who serve multiple academic departments.
- Manage facilities, including offices, labs, classrooms, and shared spaces in academic buildings. Work with division leaders to plan and execute capital projects for renovations. Maintain classroom furniture and equipment in shared non-classroom spaces such as lounges, conference rooms, and workrooms.
- Coordinate administrative support and event planning for key events for the VPAA/Dean of Faculty including spring convocation.
- Work collaboratively with campus offices on issues related to administrative support and operations in Academic Affairs.
Qualifications
Master's degree or equivalent experience. Excellent project management and personnel management abilities required. Experience in higher education strongly preferred.
Ability to be self-motivated, function autonomously, improve processes, and consistently prioritize projects and tasks. Requires ability to work with diverse individuals, excellent organizational skills, attention to detail, and a customer service orientation. Must have excellent writing, organizational, problem-solving, analytical, and interpersonal skills. Ability to manage confidential and sensitive information with discretion.
