The Alfred E. Mann Department of Biomedical Engineering is seeking an additional employee to join our team in providing outstanding support and programming for our students. This employee would be responsible for advising our Masters students, as well as overseeing the department's student engagement activities. The position includes all aspects of student support, from course planning and degree progression to post-graduation planning and grad checks. This employee will also plan or assist in planning multiple programs and events to encourage student engagement with the department. The position is supervised by the Associate Director and Director of Student Services in the department.
Primary Responsibilities Include:
- Advise Masters students on course choices and degree progression
- Coordinate with other offices on campus (e.g., OIS and OSAS) as needed
- Review borderline Masters admissions decisions with support from faculty
- Oversee Masters Orientation planning and welcome events and presentations
- Advise PDP applicants and load approved PDP course plans onto SIS
- Advise Masters students on post-graduation plans and complete Grad checks
- Assist with outreach and recruiting for graduate programs
- Provide support to the Associate Director on PhD advising as needed
- Support PhD Preview Day and PhD Orientation planning and events
- Support BMES planning
- Support Grodins planning
- Maintain department content on Experience Viterbi app
- Maintain BME Social Media - Twitter, Instagram, Website
- Participate in Commencement planning and student notification
- Support BME graduate student social engagement activities (e.g. tea time, tailgate, etc.)
- Deliver or coordinate workshops on study skills, job search, finding research, and other topics
- Support undergraduate events, including Senior Awards
- Interact with department-based student organizations
- Assist with management of student staff

Preferred Qualifications:
Masters degree and minimum two years of relevant experience preferred. Seeking a candidate with strong interpersonal and communication skills. Flexibility, attention to detail, and project management skills preferred.
Additional Information:
This is a hybrid position. The Assistant Director, Graduate Advising and Student Engagement will be expected to work onsite for 3-4 days per week. This position is not eligible for fully remote work.
The hourly rate range for this position is $28.87 - $32.26.
