Primary Purpose of Organizational Unit
University Development's purpose is to support the mission of the university by raising private resources to enhance financial support for students, faculty, programs, and facilities. University Development provides leadership and centralized services to all development offices throughout the University, serving as a focal point for annual giving, application development and IT support; campaign management; constituent programs; corporate and foundation relations; donor relations; gift planning; gift services; industry relations; marketing/communications; parents giving; principal gifts; prospect management, research and analytics; regional programs; scholarships and student aid; talent management; university events; and volunteer engagement.

Position Summary
This position may be eligible for a hybrid work arrangement that may include a partially remote work location, consistent with System Office policy. UNC Chapel Hill employees are generally required to reside within a reasonable commuting distance of their assigned duty station.
The Assistant Director for Development Support will report directly to the Assistant Vice Chancellor for Development and Foundation Administration and will manage and support University initiatives and projects under the direction of the Vice Chancellor's Office. The Assistant Director for Development Support provides comprehensive professional support to the Assistant Vice Chancellor for Development and Foundation Administration. The duties include project management, consultation, data management, executive support/logistics, finance/budget management, and communications. The position will perform an extensive range of highly visible activities such as communication with various university and external constituents at multiple levels.
The Assistant Director for Development Support is responsible for independent problem solving, answering questions, providing information, and taking action on behalf of the Assistant Vice Chancellor and others as authorized. This position must analyze, prioritize, and keep track of multiple pieces of complex and often confidential information in order to make accurate, efficient recommendations regarding workflow, and provide facilitation and processing of information and verbal and written correspondence. The individual must facilitate completion of work at a rapid pace on time-sensitive matters with routine interruptions. All of the above must be done with minimal errors and utmost professionalism in an office whose priorities must adapt to evolving needs and demands from within the University and with strategic partners.
Minimum Education and Experience Requirements
Bachelor's degree and one year of experience related to the area of assignment; or equivalent combination of training and experience. All degrees must be received from appropriately accredited institutions.
Required Qualifications, Competencies, and Experience
Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work in a high pace, complex environment. Understanding and awareness of program services, policies, office protocols, professional practices and applicable laws/regulations. Professionalism, attention to detail, and the ability to maintain confidentiality. Strong organizational and time management skills. Ability to prioritize work amidst multiple demands and meet deadlines. Flexible, collaborative, yet able to work effectively with a high degree of independence. Demonstrated knowledge of such software/programs as Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook calendar.
Preferred Qualifications, Competencies, and Experience
Degree in a relevant field of study and five years of experience in providing administrative support to one or more senior executives in a fast-paced, complex office setting. Experience in a higher education and administrative environment preferred.

Ability to stand for long periods of time and move items 30-50 pounds with or without accommodation.
