Job description

We are hiring an Assistant Director for Academic Enrichment for our Health Sciences Multicultural and Community Affairs (HS-MACA) division. In this role, you will develop and provide services to evaluate and enhance students' capabilities toward succeeding in HS-MACA programs (Post-bacc, HCOP, Health Sciences, CHW, CHA, etc.). You will proactively address students who may have academic concerns and provide the necessary resources to ensure they are on the path to success. You will primarily be involved in the retention of students through programming activities and mentoring. Additionally, you will research topics related to Academic Success, design and implement programs, and deliver training as needed.

Key Responsibilities

  • Coordinate tutoring for any students needing additional instruction
  • Help students achieve the appropriate level of study
  • Supervise Post-baccalaureate Program Coordinator
  • Support students in achieving academic success through individual assessments, counseling sessions, workshop development, and small/large group presentations
  • Develop individual education plans, direct small group critical thinking sessions, conduct skills training sessions, develop, and implement tutoring and other educational programs, etc. for university and high school students
  • Conduct needs assessments and evaluate the effectiveness of various academic support programs
  • Carry out administrative functions: scheduling, managing grades/faculty/programmatic changes, and supervising the mentoring program


Qualifications
  • Masters' Degree in a related field required
  • 2-4 years of related experience
  • 2+ years of supervisory experience
  • Proficiency with MS Office Suite including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook


Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
  • Knowledge of higher education operations
  • Excellent written/verbal communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills
  • Recruiting skills
  • Strong collaborative/teamwork ability to motivate
  • Counseling/advising skills (i.e., must be able to direct small group critical thinking sessions)
  • Demonstrated experience with strategic thinking and planning
  • Ability to develop and deliver presentations (i.e., must be able to make presentations for small/large groups)
  • Ability to relate well with highly motivated college students by providing college-level learning support in achieving academic success through individual assessments, one on one counseling sessions, teaching, implementing tutoring, and other educational programs
