*Please note this job is located in Chatsworth, CA and has the ability to work from home partially but candidates must be able to commute to Chatsworth as needed.

Pay range starts at $21.00/hour
Under the supervision of the Buyer, the assistant is responsible for facilitating business to obtain maximum profit dollars and sales goals established by management within the purchasing of their department(s).
JOB DESCRIPTION:
- Obtain quotes from vendors, analyze and evaluate comparative results
- Place orders for acquisitions with approval from buyer or Divisional Head
- Expedite orders to insure timely deliveries to include advertised products
- Maintain proper inventory levels and allocations in stores and warehouse based on a sales
- Support and organize assortment plans and merchandising with visual and catalog teams
- Develop and maintain a productive working relationship with management, employees and vendors
- Support the purchasing functions as described by the Buyer
- Develop and demonstrate basic product knowledge through sharing information with Buyer as a result of competitive shopping and the market
- Ensure timely delivery of merchandise through communication with Buyer, merchant teams, and external vendors
- Support Buyer in preparation of key business meetings (i.e. vendor appointments, style-outs, assortment planning)
JOB REQUIREMENTS:
- Bachelor’s Degree preferred
- Must have at least 2 years of retail buying/merchandising or planning experience
- Proficient in Microsoft Office including Word, Outlook, and Excel
- Ability to use independent judgment when carrying out responsibilities, be detail-oriented, and exhibit excellent follow-up
- Strong negotiation skills and prior use of retail math
- Willingness to accept ownership of projects and take initiative toward their successful completion
- Ability to multi task, prioritize effectively and work in a fast paced environment
- Maintain great flexibility, energy, and a positive “can-do”/ team player attitude
- Position requires extremely organized person who is able to take direction, learn quickly, and maintain excellent understanding of purchasing and retail stores
- Excellent ability to communicate both written and verbal
- Please note this role is non-exempt/hourly.
