Job description

Rebel Builders is a Latinx, women-owned, and operated remodeling company. We are a collaborative, innovative design-build team in Boston’s Metropolitan Area.

Rebel is seeking a full-time design assistant to join the team to be involved in all aspects of our residential remodeling projects. This position will work on multiple projects as a part of a diverse collaborative team with a shared commitment to design excellence, buildability, client service, and the professional growth opportunities that come from a start-up company.

The duties and responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following:

  • Work with the Construction team to execute projects. Must be self-motivated, well organized, detail oriented and punctual.
  • Work on-site to fill the gaps between trades, correct mistakes, and problem solve details. Assist the Site Supervisors/Lead Carpenters and Project Managers to collaborate with the design team during both the design and construction phases to facilitate the best solutions for the project.
  • Assist the site supervisor to Supervise construction work performed by subcontractors. Corroborate all the work done by trades following plans and design. Flag any changes and report to the site supervisor and project manager.
  • Assist the construction team in keeping a tidy and well-organized job site.
  • Communicate with construction and design teams, daily, about project progress.
  • Record information and photos from work performed on-site to create daily logs.
  • Assist construction team in reviewing deliveries, inspecting items to make sure they are delivered on time, and in good conditions, and matching the Selections/quotes accordingly.
  • Retrieve various construction materials for daily project operations. Log purchases with Project Manager/Site Supervisor.
  • This is an on-the-job learning position. Applicant must be engaged in seeking out new information and skills, and applying them in the field. This position will be working under the direct supervision of a Lead Carpenter/Site Supervisor.
  • Must be able to work in variable temperatures both indoors and outdoors.
  • Ability to prioritize and handle multiple projects at a time.
  • This job requires the ability to lift heavy equipment, packages, and products weighing up to and exceeding 50 lbs.
  • Promote a good image of the company before the public. Adhere to expectations for jobsite professionalism at all times, including positive attitude, appropriate team dress, conduct, organization, cleanliness, etc
  • Promote the profitability of the company.
  • Work as a team to hold all team members accountable for production goals in design and construction.
  • Improve and expand the Company’s trades and suppliers network.
  • Requires a reliable car.
  • Benefitial to own tools (Rebel will provide most tools).

Benefits (available after completing 3 months probation period):

Health/Dental Insurance: The company will pay the full monthly premium cost of covering Medical (33% coverage to spouse and children) and Dental plan insurance if the employee opts to choose a company-sponsored plan. Healthcare plans may change year to year based on availability and cost. Current plans are offered through the mass health connector for business and include Tufts direct Gold and Delta Dental Premier.

401K: Company sponsored 401k plans are available after a probationary period. Rebel builders offers both pre-tax and post tax retirement plan options matching up to 3% then an additional 1% for 5%

Additional insurance: Life insurance and short/long term disability insurance are provided to all full time employees at no additional cost. The monthly premiums for these benefits are paid in full by Rebel Builders and become effective after the probationary 3 month period. Accident and Critical illness insurance are optional benefits offered to employees at a low cost monthly premium.

Mileage reimbursement: The company will reimburse commuting miles (miles used on a personal vehicle starting at the first job site of the day and continuing through the last job site of the day, but not including the commute to and from the first and last job site) at the current reimbursable rate set by the IRS. A log must be kept of these miles and reported biweekly to the office manager.

Rebel Builders offers unpaid time off as long as project schedules are coordinated and project goals are being met.

Rebel Builders offers 80 hours of Paid Time Off (PTO) following the probationary period.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $18.00 - $26.00 per hour

Expected hours: No less than 40 per week
