The Animal Research Technician II assists in the implementation of the research study under the mentorship and direction of the Principal Investigator and in accordance with the guidelines set forth in the approved grant proposal as awarded by the funding source. The Animal Research Technician is responsible for the coordination of study activities, which may include performing experiments; data collection and analysis process; interim and final progress reports preparation; preparation of manuscripts, study results dissemination; and the coordination any other activities necessary to execute the research protocol.
Responsibilities- Promote humane and ethical treatment of animal research subjects
- Adhere to Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA), International Air Transportation Association (IATA), Good Laboratory Practices (GLP), and infection control procedures
- Demonstrate proficiency in performing basic study-related procedures and/or experiments, as required
- Perform collection and analysis of data
- Process and ship samples according to regulations and protocol requirements
- Maintain a collaborative research environment with all site personnel, research participants, The Geneva Foundation, and the funding organization
- Direct the execution and maintenance of research study and management of study documentation
- Preparation of interim and final progress reports
- Document of all correspondence and communication pertinent to the research
- Disseminate research results
- Present research findings at conferences on behalf of the research team
- Bachelors degree or equivalent work experience required
- 1-2 years experience in the chemistry and biology field preferred
- 1-2 years non-profit, research, or healthcare experience desired
- Demonstrate competence in oral and written communication
- Must be organized, attentive to detail, and posses a positive, friendly and professional demeanor
- Must be flexible with changing priorities and able to communicate in a diplomatic and professional manner
- Computer skills including at least intermediate level experience with Excel and other Microsoft Office Software
- Continuing education/enrollment in a Masters of Science program, preferred
- Research experience required in cell culture, animal handling, and laboratory bench top analytical analyses
