Summary
Executes and monitors all logistics activities required for the timely and efficient transportation of goods, using 3rd party Common Carriers, as an internal Transportation Management System. Communicates with all carriers to manage and resolve open issues related to the movement of goods. Collaborates daily with Customer Service to review any short lead orders, special requests or discrepancies. Plans and monitors inbound and outbound shipping activities including shuttling activity and traffic flow. Navigates systems to solve issues that create barriers to steady transportation flow.

Essential Functions

• Executes daily logistics transactional tasks through efficient planning of shipments and tendering of loads to carriers using TMS systems, e-mail and phone as required.
• Executes allocation of loads and G3 owned equipment
• Identifies and resolves carrier performance issues such as missed loads, late pickups and late loads. Resolves carrier issues related to shipping and receiving facilities.
• Monitors equipment utilization, transportation costs and ensures costs are within departmental guidelines.
• Understands key business terms, lines of business, suppliers, and customers.
• Develops carrier relationships and contacts at multiple levels.
• Gathers data and make recommendations for improvement or root cause analysis on problems/opportunities that are straightforward.
• Collaborates daily with Customer Service and Quality (Analytics) teams as required.
• Prints and distributes applicable shipping documentation to include validation of accuracy and compliance to shipping document protocol.
• Reconciles and stores shipping paperwork in a timely manner and within compliance of company/DOT requirements.
• Monitors Shuttling activity and traffic flow of campus.
• Maintains constant communication with operations on appointment arrival, shipping activity assignment and capacity.
• Schedules inbound and outbound loads.
• Works directly with carriers and operations to balance service and capacity.
• Manage by exception leveraging new software to maximize scheduling efficiencies (C3).
• Fields ongoing phone calls and e-mail that require problem solving practices to execute asks.
• Maintains satisfactory attendance, to include timeliness.

Minimum Qualifications
• High school diploma or State-issued equivalency certificate and prior work experience OR a Bachelor's Degree in Supply Chain Management, Operations Management, Engineering or Business Administration.
• Skilled in MS Excel, Outlook, Access, Word and PowerPoint at an Intermediate level.
• Work overtime and weekend shifts when required.
• Skilled in reading, comprehending, interpreting and executing simple instructions, short correspondence and memos.
• Skilled in writing simple correspondence.
• Skilled in adding, subtracting, multiplying and dividing using whole numbers.

Preferred Qualifications
• Prior experience in a Logistics environment (Common Carrier Company, international, agricultural or 3rd Party Logistics) managing logistics activities required for the efficient transportation of goods reflecting increasing levels of responsibility or experience in an Agriculture environment in production, manufacturing or logistics.
• Experience managing carriers or drivers via an transportation management system based model.
• Skilled in Logistics Scheduling, Dispatching, leadership and mentoring.
• Experience with effectively presenting information and responding to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers and the general public.
• Skilled in handling unusual or difficult inquiries/situations through direct personal action or refer to the appropriate individual.
• Bilingual (Spanish).
• Experience effectively working against defined goals in a fast-paced environment.
• Experience critically assessing situation, solving problems, and working effectively under stress.
• Experience with multitasking, time management, heavy phone usage.

Compensation

  1. Hiring Hourly Rate: $17.00.
  2. Actual compensation amount paid may be lower or higher to be determined by factors other than race and gender such as the education, experience, knowledge, skills and abilities of the applicant, internal equity, and alignment with market data.
