Inline Skating Instructor for Kids (Grades K-5)
Are you a passionate inline skater with a knack for teaching and inspiring young enthusiasts? Our thriving Afterschool Program on the Upper West Side is on the lookout for a dynamic and experienced Inline Skating Instructor. As an Inline Skating Instructor, you'll have the thrilling opportunity to introduce the world of inline skating to children in grades K-5, fostering their skills and instilling a love for this exciting sport.
Responsibilities:
1. Skating Instruction: Provide engaging and age-appropriate inline skating lessons to children in grades K-5, focusing on beginner-level skills, safety, and fun.
2. Skill Development: Teach fundamental inline skating techniques, including balance, stopping, turning, and maneuvering, in an accessible and understandable manner.
3. Interactive Learning: Plan and execute lessons that captivate and motivate young skaters, instilling confidence and enthusiasm for the sport.
4. Regular Communication: In cooperation with the site supervisor, maintain open and transparent communication with parents or guardians, providing updates on student progress and ensuring their involvement in the learning process on an as needed basis.
5. Equipment Management: Ensure that skates and safety gear are in good condition and readily available for lessons.
Qualifications:
1. Passion for Skating: A genuine love for inline skating and a strong desire to inspire young skaters.
2. Educational Background: A degree in sports, physical education, or a related field is preferred, but practical experience and expertise in inline skating instruction will be considered.
3. Teaching Experience: Demonstrated experience teaching or coaching children in elementary school settings. Prior experience in inline skating instruction is a plus.
4. Beginner Focus: The ability to effectively teach and engage beginners in inline skating, fostering their skills and enthusiasm for the sport.
5. Adaptability:Flexibility in adapting teaching methods to suit the learning needs of young children, ensuring a safe, fun and engaging experience.
Working Conditions:
The Inline Skating Instructor will primarily work outdoors within our designated skating area. The position involves teaching inline skating to elementary school children in grades K-5 during afterschool hours.
