The primary purpose of this position is purchasing and procurement transactions, office machine operations, word processing, and special project assignments. The incumbent works closely with Forest Service employees as well as the public.

Specialized Experience Requirement:
For the GS-04: You must have one one year of general experience. General experience is defined as meeting one or more of the following: Clerical, office, or other work such as receiving and sorting incoming and outgoing mail; Using automated software to produce written documents; Maintaining office files; Answering phone calls in an office setting.
OR an associate's degree or two years of successfully completed education above high school;
OR combinations of successfully completed post-high school education and experience. The education must have been obtained in an accredited business, secretarial or technical school, junior college, college or university.
For the GS-05: You must have one year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-04 grade level in the Federal service. Specialized experience is experience that equipped the applicant with the particular knowledge, skills, and abilities needed to successfully perform the duties of this position. Specialized experience is defined as meeting one or more of the following: Greeting visitors and responding to phone and written inquiries personally or referring to other staff as appropriate; Maintaining written records and files in electronic and/or hardcopy filing systems; Using word processing software and printing equipment to create, copy, edit, store, retrieve, and print standardized documents ensuring correct grammar, spelling, punctuation, and format.
OR Bachelor's degree or 4 years of successfully completed education above high school from an accredited business, secretarial or technical school, junior college, college or university. (Note: You must attach a copy of your transcripts.)
OR a combination of successfully completed post-high school education (in excess of the first 60 semester hours) and specialized experience. The education must have been obtained in an accredited business, secretarial or technical school, junior college, college. or university.
Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment.
