The Neighborhood Services Division strives to empower citizens and businesses by engaging them in a method to identify neighborhood needs and issues so that resources can be accessed to help revitalize, strengthen, and preserve the physical, social, and economic value of Orange County neighborhoods.

The Neighborhood Services Division is currently seeking a qualified candidate to fulfill the position of an Administrative Office Coordinator. This position is responsible for providing administrative support for the Division, including performing routine and advanced research, processing Code Compliance case information, and providing high-level staff, citizen, and board support. Work is performed with considerable independence under the supervision of Administrative Program Manager. Performance is reviewed through observations, reports and results achieved.

Representative Duties

  • Performs research and processing of Code Compliance information, to include but not limited to property ownership, code compliance issues, easements, deeds, plats and permits.
  • Receives, reviews, and distributes violation information or requests for variance to the appropriate Zoning staff.
  • Prepares agenda items for BCC, including resolutions and Special Assessment liens.
  • Provides support for the division’s advisory boards.
  • Prepares hearing documentation including agendas, minutes, certified billing letters and lien letters to property owners.
  • Determine actions for negotiation and collection of outstanding monetary fines and lines.
  • Responsible for collection, management, preservation and availability of public records.
  • Issues routine work orders, monitors status, and reviews invoices for services that may include, but not limited to lot cleanings and abatements.
  • Assists with management of electronic records, archive records retention scheduling and destruction.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications

Graduation from high school or equivalent and three years of experience in records and process management; and administrative support experience in a zoning, development review, or regulatory setting, or a related field; or an equivalent combination of education, training or experience.

Must demonstrate ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing with the general public while discussing, explaining and interpreting county ordinances.

Must have a working knowledge of state and federal records retention laws, or the ability to gain knowledge within six months of hire, in order to make independent decisions based upon that knowledge.

Preferences

  • Two years of experience in records and process management; and administrative support experience in government, business, or a related field.
  • Demonstrate ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing to discuss, explain and interpret ordinances or related documents.
  • Working knowledge of state and federal records retention laws, or the ability to gain knowledge within six months of hire, in order to make independent decisions based upon that knowledge.
