Located minutes from downtown Washington, DC Prince George's is the perfect family-friendly community to live, work, and play!We are Prince George's Proud!The Prince George's County Government Office of Law is seeking qualified applicants to fill an Administrative Aide III position, grade G-17.About the Position:This is a highly responsible secretarial/administrative position in the County Attorney's Office. Incumbent will act as an Administrative Aide to Associate County Attorneys, relieving them of various administrative details.Work at this level involves handling highly sensitive and confidential issues and related activities.

Examples of WorkWhat You'll Do:* Provides administrative and secretarial support to Associate County Attorneys in the DSS Division, includig the Team lead attorney.* Establishes, maintains, monitors, updates, and closes attorney assignments.* Reviews attorney assignments to determine next action or what pleadings should be prepared. This is done independently or with minimal supervision.* Responds in writing or over the telephone to inquiries and requests regarding cases and assignments independently or with minimal supervision.* Researches, prepares, and distributes various statistical reports.* Drafts, composes, and types letters, memoranda, reports, (some of which are confidential) legal documents and legal pleadings, including motions, interrogatories, notice of deposition, etc.* Manages attorney schedules and arranges appointments for attorneys.* Screens and answers incoming telephone calls for attorneys. Greets and assists visitors.* Establishes and maintains files on all attorney assignments, letters, memoranda, and subject files.* Processes mail for attorneys.

Sorts, scans, and notates mail in case management system.* Acts as liaison and person of contact with courts, commissions, county agencies, attorneys, etc.* Attends meetings as required.* Performs other related work as assigned.QualificationsWhat You'll Need:* Associates degree in Business Administration or a closely related field;or nine (9) monthsof experiencein the Administrative Aide II level;plus,* One (1) year of diverse/technical clerical and administrative experience involving public contact using standard secretarial practices and procedures, systems, and equipment, which includes:* Knowledge of Microsoft Office applications, such as Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook Teams, SAP, etc.;* Experiencecomposing and preparing routine correspondence;* Experienceperforming basic mathematical skills:* Experience maintaining calendars;and,* Experience processing and interpreting data.An equivalent combination of education and experience will be considered.EACH APPLICANT MUST INCLUDE INFORMATION THAT DEMONSTRATES THE ABOVE QUALIFICATIONS FOR THIS POSITION. Additional InformationPREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS* At least three (3) years of serving in a role that required coordination and communication with multiple sections within a large agency or organization.* Advanced experience with Microsoft 365 Office applications, including proven strength in the use of spreadsheets, database, and presentation applications, including Microsoft Excel, Word, Outlook and PowerPoint, and One Drive and SharePoint.KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES* Ability to take the initiative and exercise sound independent judgment.* Ability to communicate clearly, concisely, and effectively; listen effectively and share information.* Ability to manage competing priorities in a fast-paced environment while quickly adapting to changing priorities with professional composure and demeanor.* Ability to address inquiries responsively and thoroughly, with a willingness to ensure that all necessary information has been obtained and to ask any follow-up questions that may be necessary.* Skill in establishing and maintaining effective working partnerships across divisions or departments.* Ability to foster and approach tasks with a team-focused mentality and the ability to successfully and fruitfully engage with coworkers with a wide variety of work styles and skill sets.* Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.* Demonstrated ability to be flexible and adaptable to change. Considerable knowledge of secretarial practices and procedures in order to perform advanced secretarial/administrative duties.* Thorough knowledge of office practices, procedures, systems, and equipment.* Skill in the operation of a variety of standard office equipment.* Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing.* Ability to use tact, diplomacy, and discretion in performing office duties and to maintain confidentiality when necessary.* Ability to conduct research and prepare accurate reports.* Ability to perform advanced secretarial/administrative duties that may include taking and transcribing oral dictation.* Ability to establish and maintain accurate files.* Ability to lead/coordinate the work of subordinates.EXAMINATION INSTRUCTIONS: Applicants who meet the minimum qualifications will be required to take and pass a proficiency assessment.CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT:Upon selection the candidate:1.
