Accounts Payable Specialist

Northwestern Engineering Company and NWE Management Company (NWE), nearly 100-year-old privately held real estate holding and development companies in Rapid City, South Dakota, seek a new full-time Accounts Payable Specialist. NWE owns and manages real estate in five states with centralized operations in Rapid City for numerous companies.Essential Job Responsibilities

• Reconcile vendor invoices and utility bills and obtain proper approval with property management team members
• Code invoices and input into accounting software for payment processing for our numerous companies most are accrual basis, some are cash basis
• Pay invoices weekly according to due dates
• Communicate professionally with our team members, vendors, and tenants
• Update Excel spreadsheets with utility service and usage information, cell phone usage, and other financial information accurately and review for unusual items or trends
• Maintain vendor records including filing of invoices
• Reconcile monthly statements from vendors
• Update W-9s and insurance certificates
• Prepare 1099s annually
• Reconcile company credit card accounts

Other Responsibilities:

• Process daily incoming rent payments
• Financial statement preparation assistance
• Other duties as assigned

Experience, Education, Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

• Two or more years of strong accounts payable experience
• Experience with advanced global accounting software very helpful
• Strong computer and math skills and 10-key by touch
• Proficient use of Excel, Outlook, and Word. Access database experience helpful
• Detail oriented with ability to apply analytical and problem-solving skills
• Excellent written and oral communication skills
• Solid time management skills and ability to multi-task and meet deadlines
• Ability to work with a team and independently in a friendly and professional manner
• Good understanding of accounting principles and practices
• Ability to maintain strict confidentiality regarding financial data

Job location, hours, and pay:

• 314 Founders Park Drive in Rapid City in office position
• 8 to 5 Monday through Friday
• Pay range commensurate with your experience and skill set
