Fully remote position with a GovCon consulting firm as a full-time Accounting Manager. In this role you’ll be responsible for overseeing the accounting client’s deliverables, as well as the management of a team (and we hope you like to mentor your junior team members!). In this position you will be touching all areas relating to financial reporting, GAAP accounting, government contract accounting. You’ll need the ability to manage complex projects within a fast-paced General Accounting environment for multiple clients across various industries.
Management of Internal Accounting Team
- Manages results-driven project teams.
- Organizes team roles and evaluating employee performance.
- Maintains staff by recruiting, selecting, orienting, and training employees.
- Provides individualized coaching and mentoring of staff.
- Executes department training plan to include weekly team development.
- Leads weekly team meetings.
- Manages department workflow to ensure that responsibilities are properly allocated and completed timely and accurately.
- Defines objectives, identifies and evaluates trends and options, chooses a course of actions and evaluates outcomes of department tasks and workflow for continuous improvement.
- Assists in accomplishing company-established objectives by providing forecasting, maintaining a department budget, analyzing variances, and initiating corrective actions.
- Responds to inquiries from executive or management team regarding department financial results and special reporting requests.
- Serves as the team resource in government contract accounting, GAAP, DCAA, and FAR standards and regulations to advise internal team as necessary, as well as expertise in all client consulting areas below.
- Performs other duties and special projects as assigned.
Multi-client Accounting Consulting
- Maintains quality customer service standards and resolves customer service issues.
- Maintains the integrity of the financial systems and the maintenance of accounts and records in such areas as assets, liabilities, equity, income, and expense in accordance with GAAP.
- Understands FAR and DCAA cost allocation requirements to ensure costs are allocated in accordance with proper accounting standards and guidelines.
- Ensures financial deadlines are met for month-end, quarter-end, and year-end financial closings, this includes project reporting requirements.
- Analyzes financial statements and meet with clients to present completed analysis and recommendations.
- Reviews contracts and contract modifications as it pertains to the accounting and project setups of the system and client recommendations.
- Supports budget and forecasting activities.
- Supports cash flow activities.
- Responds to inquiries from the clients regarding financial results and special reporting requests.
- Performs other duties and special projects as assigned.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in accounting, or similar.
- 10+ years of management experience, preferably in a multi-business consulting environment.
- Willingness to learn various accounting systems, advanced system knowledge a plus (i.e., Procas, Unanet, Costpoint, QuickBooks).
- Experience with the Federal Acquisition Regulations (FAR), Defense Contract Audit Agency (DCAA) and the Federal Travel Regulations (FTR).
- Demonstratable knowledge of government contract funding and invoicing.
- Must be PC proficient and able to thrive in a fast -paced setting.
- Advanced Microsoft Excel skills (Pivot tables, VLOOKUP, etc.)
- Proficient with other Microsoft products (Teams, Outlook, Word, and SharePoint).
- Experience with successfully handling multiple projects and customers.
- Detail oriented with strong organizational, time management, delegation and prioritization abilities.

Preferred Qualifications a Plus
- CPA or other state licensure.
- Advanced degree in accounting, finance, management, or similar.
- Certification in an accounting system (i.e., Unanet, Costpoint, QuickBooks).
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $110,000.00 - $120,000.00 per year
