3rd Shift Shipping Lead
Key Responsibilities- Be the example to which employees will follow.
- Maintain a clean and safe work area.
- Be able to read and understand the dry end-run schedule.
- Be able to perform all job tasks of a checker loader and assist in these job duties.
- Be able to organize delivery schedules based on production data gathered from the manufacturing software.
- Be able to verify driver’s delivery schedule to facilitate cost effective, efficient on time deliveries to our customer.
- Be able to adjust start times for the drivers according to the dry end production schedule.
- The ability to clearly communicate the shipping plan to others including transportation associates, Customer Service, Scheduling and Production.
- Ability to quickly recognize the inability to service our customers and to notify the Shipping Manager, the Plant Manager, the General Manager, Customer Service and Scheduling about any changes to the set plan for shipping.
- Ensure that unit count is correct, and units are properly tagged and unitized according to customer specifications.
- Ensure that orders are shipped in their entirety. Any short count is to be reported to Production immediately to identify if a remake can be setup at that time to possibly still complete the order on the scheduled trailer. If a remake cannot be completed due to flute or paper grades, it is to be reported to the Shipping Manager, the Plant Manager, the General Manager, Customer Service and Scheduling.
- Ensure that all Checker Loaders have the proper training for the job they are performing according to the Shipping Managers plan of action. To include reviewing new policies and procedures with the checker loaders as well as any special requests from our customers.
- Ensure that Trailer inspections and Sweep logs are being filled out and that the work has been completed as per the SOP.
Requirements/Qualifications
- Previous experience in a manufacturing / production environment
- Proven ability to work SAFELY adhering to all safety processes and policies.
- Ability to work a flexible schedule on occasion to support operational and business needs.
- Ability to work either individually or in a collaborative, team-oriented environment.
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand, walk and communicate with team members. Could be subject to standing or walking for extended periods of time. The employee frequently is required to use hands, reach with hands and arms; and stoop, kneel, or crouch. The employee must regularly lift and or move up to 50 pounds and occasionally lift or move up to 75 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perceptions and the ability to adjust focus.
Work EnvironmentWhile performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly exposed to moving mechanical parts. The employee is frequently exposed to ambient temperatures. The employee is occasionally exposed to fumes or airborne particles and vibration. The noise level in the work environment is usually loud. Employees are required to wear PPE which includes, but is not limited to: Steel toed shoes, safety glasses and hearing protection.
