Job Description
Scope:
CNA's assist residents of Christian Care with their daily activities of living, while providing care consisting of patience, safety, and integrity while appropriately responding to resident's needs.
A CNA provides resident centered care and reports any changes in resident's status to the supervising RN or LPN to ensure resident comfort and safety.
Qualifications:
- Must possess the ability to communicate effectively and deal tactfully with residents, family members, visitors, and the general public.
- Must have a valid Indiana CNA license
- Must posses the ability to work with others and display patience, tact, enthusiasm and cheerful disposition
- Must display high level of accuracy and maintain confidentiality
- Must possess proficient computer skills
- Must be available for every other weekend and every other holiday
Duties:
- Answering resident call lights in timely manner
- Assisting residents with person hygiene, transferring and walking, eating, and any aspect of daily living that may require assistance
- Maintaining a positive attitude towards residents and staff to ensure dignity and quality of life
- Listening to shift change reports and receive daily assignments
- Maintain accountability and reasonability for each specific resident's care assigned while under direct supervision
- Maintain punctuality and dependability for all assigned shifts
- Comply with all facility policy and procedures
- Be able to input all of charting - which must be completed accurately before clocking out for the end of the shift
- Keeping residents room orderly, neat, stocked and sanitary
- Positioning bedfast residents in correct and comfortable position every two hours or as needed
- Assisting with residents who are dying
- Making sure residents clothing is clean throughout your shift
- Reporting damaged or unsafe equipment to nurse
- Performing all work in a safe manner and using lifts as necessary
- Performing all other duties as assigned
- Attending in-services, educational and on-the-job training programs as directed
- Attending continuing education required for maintenance of any professional certification or licensure
- Being responsible for maintaining your license and keeping it up-to-date
Skills Required:
- Must be able to function independently, have work flexibility, personal integrity, and the ability to work effectively and harmoniously with residents, family members and co-workers in a person centered care environment.
- Ability to communicate in English via telephone, in writing, and verbally in conversation with different levels of staff, residents and their families and any outside customers.
- Ability to utilize a computer, phone, etc.
Additional Information/benefits:
- Starting base pay: $16.00 / hour + $0.25 per years of experience, with a cap of 15 years
