2023 Summer Intern - Materials Management
Department Summary
Our department is Materials Management. Materials Management is made up of Warehouse, MRO (Maintenance Repair & Operations), Procurement, Master Data Management and Site Scheduling. We are responsible for several critical pieces of the product supply chain at the site. Our teams are responsible for the purchase of materials, creation of recipes, maintenance of the plant, scheduling of production and movement of materials and product. For this internship we are looking for candidates with computer science, data science, information systems and programming skills.
This internship position is located in OCEANSIDE, CA.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform materials planning, production scheduling, and inventory management activities associated with supporting Manufacturing. Activities include developing raw materials forecasts, inventory control management, scheduling production activities, materials requirements review, automated system utilization, project management, scheduling dispensing activities, communicating with multiple sites, participate in operation meetings, and overall materials planning and production scheduling management for the Oceanside facility.
- Responsible for the development, maintenance and advancement of the Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) system recipe and master data used Oceanside Production. Represent the department as a subject matter expert and liaison between a variety of key internal and external stakeholders to maintain the integration between SAP, APO, MES, LIMS, and paper based systems. May lead cross-functional teams in problem identification, resolution and driving quantifiable business results. Represent the department in interactions with the global business process management community and will proactively identify areas for improvement. Relied upon to work collaboratively and independently to solve emerging challenges inherent to project and system implementations.
- Responsible for performing duties in the Materials Management MRO function including; Part receipts, quarantine/block, shipping, kanban, inventory management, master data management and non-GMP receiving/delivery. Functions can include one or all of the following: Receipt, Store and Control, Transfer and Issue Parts & Materials within the business processes and Quality System guidelines. Package and ship bulk parts and materials as needed. Verifies quantity and conformance of materials; prepares records of materials shipped and boxes, and prepare parts and tooling for special shipment.. May develop reports, prepare metrics and analyze data. May support site change controls and discrepancy management related to existing parts & components, new parts and other components and materials. Manage inventory and transfer spare parts for manufacturing and maintenance use. Support kanban, order parts, manage inventory in SAP. Support parts for maintenance use. Work in a self-directed model within guidelines and policies, while receiving minimal guidance. Acts as a resource for colleagues with less experience and provides functional guidance.

Who You Are
- Undergraduates who have completed at least one year of undergraduate coursework at a university, or recent grads within two years of having received a bachelor's degree. Preferred majors: Computer Science,Data Science, Information Systems
- Math and programming skills of some kind - Python, C++
- Excellent communication, collaboration, and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work as part of a multi-disciplinary team on technical matters

The expected salary range for this position based on the primary location for this position of California is $21.00 - $50.00 per hour. Actual pay will be determined based on experience, qualifications, geographic location, and other job-related factors permitted by law. This position also qualifies for paid holiday time off benefits.
