In this role you may be expected to:
- Perform Ultrasonic Testing (UT) in Fabrications environment using ultrasonic testing machine per Caterpillar guidelines
- Calibrate UT Wedges for UT weekly; evaluate UT welds for defects daily
- Log quality issues in SAP and flag defects for repair
- UT workload varies; UT employees will be required to perform quality auditor task as needed to visually inspect welds and use Various inspection gages in a fabrication’s environment.
NOTE: If Candidate is NOT already certified, candidate will be required to complete 240 hours of on-the- job training and must complete and pass company provided Certification Tests before graduating to a T64 job code.
Basic Qualifications :
- At least 6 months experience in a Quality Auditing role
- Ultrasonic Testing Certified already OR required to complete 240 hours of on-the-job training before taking the Level 1 Certification Test. Must complete and pass the Ultrasonic Testing Level One certification course within one year.
Physical Requirements (with or without reasonable accommodation):
- Willing and able to stand for prolonged periods and walk to various locations many times for inspection/testing daily
- Willing and able to perform repetitive operations
- Willing and able to lift up to 35 lbs.
Top Candidates will also have:
- Intermediate proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint
- Intermediate proficiency in SAP software (Basic skills/knowledge. Capable of functioning independently)
- Manufacturing experience
- Weld auditing experience
- Further education beyond high school
- Strong working knowledge of Assembly/Manufacturing practices
- Experience with data reports for calibration analysis and review
- Ultrasonic Testing certification
